"There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still." Franklin D. Roosevelt

Business is all about people

It’s about their individual achievement, ambition, vision, rapport and productivity, their clarity of thinking and their management of stress, their ability to deal with people and their reasons for motivation.

Company performance is linked to each person working there.

If your company culture is one which encourages everyone to develop and grow their skills, then your company will develop and grow too.

Above all else, it’s about how people manage change. The need for change is greater than ever; we all need to stay competitive in tough times, react effectively to market forces, and be flexible in meeting customer needs.

Change is usually thrust upon us so we tend to resist, because we are unsure about how it might affect us or how we might handle it.

  • What might happen if, instead, the change comes from within?
  • If, instead, we realise the power of our own inner resources and potential?
  • What might happen if, instead, we’re not only aware of our strengths, but also of a confidence that we can manage the fear that stops us moving on

Stairway to success

There are times when a step-change is needed, and how that is welcomed and managed can make all the difference.

  • ACHIEVEMENT
We can all be provided with a toolbox, so we can make the most of our own potential and bring about change, for life.
  • RIGHT TOOLS
With the right tools, personal limitations can be removed and choices revealed.
  • AWARENESS OF CHOICE
With the awareness that things could be different, there comes an acknowledgment that other ways could at least be considered.
We can all be taught how to manage change, in all its different contexts. It’s like learning anything else for which a good set of tools can really help; learn to use the tools and you can achieve anything.

Imagine trying to build a house without screwdriver or spanner, scaffolding, drill or cement mixer. You might manage a small mud hut, but that’s where you would stay, literally. Even if you thought an attic might be nice, you just wouldn’t have the tools to do anything about it. And that would be that. Life on the ground floor forever.

If you do what you always do, you get what you always get.

But then one day you might become aware that you’d like something different - a second floor perhaps. Without the tools you still can’t do anything, but the idea is there. Then you discover that you do have some tools after all, and find out how to use them; you build some stairs and move up.

“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” Andy Warhol

So what sort of changes are we talking about? Areas where you might be looking for change could include;

Choices

Plans can and do go wrong. Customers change their mind. Markets crash and shares soar. Staff leave, productivity suffers. Performance declines, sales fall and motivation decreases.

WHAT CHOICE IS THERE? How we react.

If we’re aware of this choice, we have the ability to affect results positively.

Communicate or conflict

Difficult situations, people, problems. Conflicting goals, ideas, language.

These nearly always happen because of a lack of communication.

What might this sort of conflict lead to - misunderstandings, poor motivation, reduced productivity, staff turnover?

What might be some of the ways of dealing with it - listening to others

  • understanding the cause of stress maintaining objectiveness
  • leadership
  • self-awareness and confidence?
How useful would it be to have a strategy which would help us to identify what’s going on, and allow us to move the situation forward?

Creating excellence

Think of a colleague who does wonderful presentations, or someone who handles meetings brilliantly; perhaps a friend who gets on with everyone, or is a terrific motivator.

Some people just seem to have a knack. We can learn just what it is that makes the difference between an average and a star performance.

If one person can accomplish something skillfully, that skill can be learned by others, and peak performance can be accessed at will.

By studying excellence, practical skills can be identified that other people can use to recreate that excellence.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.” Aristotle

If you
overcome your worries, how different would that be?
If you
don’t develop your staff, what will happen?
If you
don’t make any changes, how will it be?
If you
don’t make progress, what will be the result?

What makes this different from all the others?

The difference is Philippe Roy.

He has run companies for over 20 years, and continues to do so; his company In focus recruits, consults and trains for the Hospitality Industry in the UK and France.

Starting as a chef in his native France, he went through his own step-changes, from chef to restaurant owner/hotelier to international company MD to career developer. He knows first-hand just how important change is to get where you want to be. If he hadn’t been there himself, he wouldn’t be doing this.

On completing 3 courses with the world-famous Life Coach Anthony Robbins, he studied NLP with the best trainers in the UK and the US. John Grinder, co-founder of NLP, endorses his Master Practitioner Diploma. He became an ANLP Accredited Trainer for NLP under the tutoring of John Seymour. He runs a weekly practice group in Bath and he is also an Avocational Dale Carnegie® Trainer.

His experience has given him a rare insight into why people work, behave and react they way they do, and he knows what it’s like to be unsure and not know the way forward. He knows that the confident management of change brings value to both professional and personal life, and he uses these strategies and techniques in running his own successful company.
