One of the finest country house hotels in England, Calcot Manor lies three
miles to the west of Tetbury deep in the Cotswold Hills. Set in stunning
countryside, amid rolling fields and with a history spanning centuries,
the hotel retains all the character of a handsome Cotswold farmhouse while
providing the fine levels of service that has won it many accolades
Calcot has enjoyed a place in history since the time of William the Conqueror
when the Hamlet of Calcot was first documented in the Doomsday Book of 1066.
In 1311 Cistercian monks farmed the surrounding land and it is thought that
their 14th Century tithe barn, which now forms part of the hotel, was originally
built as an abbey.
