Corse
Lawn is an elegant Queen Anne Grade II listed building surrounded by
12 acres of gardens and fields, 6 miles from motorways near the Cotswolds.
Belonging to the Hine family (of Cognac fame), it is an attractive Country
House with nineteen individual modern en suite bedrooms. The atmosphere
is happy and relaxed.
Baba Hine leads the kitchen, helped by Andrew Poole, acclaimed for the
delightful Dining Room, and the bistro in the bar area. Cooking is a
high standard with good use of top quality ingredients although the
menu is not traditional. Seafood features strongly and pastry work is
a high point throughout. Styles range from chunky and delicately spiced
Thai fishcakes to pan-fried guinea fowl with yellow split peas and white
pudding all making a contemporary point. The sensible wine list complements
the food and is full of character.
Corse Lawn is closed 24 and 25 December.
