Parkhill is an elegant, restored 18th Century Georgian country manor nestling in twelve acres of picturesque parkland and pastures with superb views open across forest and heath-land. Parkhill has charming New Forest remoteness1 mile from Lyndhurst and near Salisbury and Winchester. There are 20 tasteful individual en suites and there is comfortable style and charm throughout. Owned by Alex and Caroline Aitkin of Poussin fame the dining is obviously superb. Much care goes into the construction and presentation of dishes and fresh local ingredients such as New Forest wild mushrooms and organic meats are given priority. In the tranquil restaurant Venison loin appears on the plate, rolled in garden herbs on a fricassee of wild mushrooms, garlic and shallots with pommes Anna. Alex Aitken's delicious blend of modern and classical English cooking produces appetising menus complimented by a well-stocked carefully chosen cellar.
