Owned by Makepeace hotels Soar Mill Cove Hotel is 15 miles from the motorway network midway between Plymouth and Dartmouth, near many waterside villages. Spectacularly set surrounded by 2000 dramatic acres of unspoilt idyllic National Trust coastline the hotel is entirely upon one level, so as not to obstruct the 'Outstanding Natural Beauty'. The comfortable en suites have individual high standards and there are two pools. Closed November-February. Fish and seafood are a speciality especially the lobster cooked with queen scallops in a light saffron sauce. The spin on the Modern West Country cooking is imaginative, innovative and sophisticated. The menus change on a daily basis, making full plentiful use of the local and organic ingredients. Keith Makepeace's cuisine offers a balance of simple and elaborate dishes, with freshly caught Lobster, Crab and local fillet Beef always available. The hotel also runs cookery master classes.
