Thornbury Castle stands in the West Country, surrounded by its vineyard
and pretty Tudor gardens overlooking the Severn into Gloucestershire and
Wales near Bath.
Renowned for head chef Colin Woodward's fine food the restaurant is the
recipient of many awards, and is building a reputation based on studied,
well-balanced classic English and French cooking using quality produce.
The castle still retains the magic and grandeur of a bygone age but in
more comfort. The furnishing is traditionally Tudor English but hearty,
friendly, warm and luxurious. The rich, imposing historic atmosphere and
baronial style remains throughout all of the 20 individually decorated
en suites but they all have modern day comforts.
It is part of the group Von Essen. Closed for 4 days in January.
